I dont understand why some people think celebrities lose their right to have an opinion.

Every song tells a story, whether its one we can relate to, agree or disagree with...Notis has many songs with strong messages

Ξυπνάτε ρε
Πατρίδα μου
Αγρίμια
Διεφθαρμένη συνουσία
Τα κλεμμένα
Στέλλα η Σμυρνιά
Ντροπή σε όλους μας
Απόψε
Θυσία
Δικαστής
Δύσκολοι καιροί

On a different note: I just saw LADY GAGA last night. I would have to say that it was probably one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

To give you an idea of concert feedback, type in google:  "lady gaga ticketmaster"
http://www.ticketmaster.com/Lady-Gaga-tickets/artist/1249444

Almost all 800+ reviews called it the best ever or amazing, etc...

That's what I call a performance. Each and every song had a complete theme, visually and musically stunning. She has a voice, can dance and knows how to put on a show.

I'm sickened just thinking about the Sfakainakis concert, money down the toilet. Just resting on your past songs, doing "cover songs", throwing flowers around and making wisecracks makes for a crappy show. Take note from the Americans...NOTIS!

Ps. Hello Jen. To answer your last message: It's just that some performers think their message is life-changing or something new. War sucks, OF COURSE! So when Notis shows kids with head bandages, PLEASE!!!!!!!  Why don't we just show videos of the most terrible things we can imagine during the exact time we are supposed to be there for entertainment! We work all week, take care of our families and pay our bills, SPARE ME THE " I KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU AND I'M GONNA TELL YOU" B.S.
AGAIN, ENTERTAIN ME FOR GOODNESS SAKE.
Save the politics for the politicians, it's that simple

What's up A8inea,

Saw your video, I liked it. Yes, Notis has "the voice" that represents Greece well.

I am digging the whole "art thing" with Lady Gaga, check out this video...don't miss the end...love it!

If Lady Gaga or whomever went to Greece to criticize Greece and the Greek people I would think that there should be some very upset people.
Really think about it, the last and final song of the night was "Provata".  Sheep! Are you serious?! That's insulting and you can bet people were irritated.
It's just dumb. If I would have known what I know now, I would have not gone, including my "group".
This is why I started this topic, it's all the truth. If people don't see anything wrong with his arrogance and attitude, then go right ahead, pay up, and get what's coming to you.
Best wishes and God bless

you realize of course that greeks thrive on knocking arrogance and attitude

i can think of a couple of programs on greek tv when some went a little moggy ......both with expressing their opinion, while others ....tried to knock them off their perches of self importance

and they are not necessarily singing artists either

I just looooove fishing!!! Its all in the bait

interesting topic.

I don't know what your concert halls are like but most here in Sydney have little dancing space only.  I went to a concert and i couldn't afford the table seating so i sat in an area where you could only sit.. The greek artist wanted us to get up and dance but we couldn't because we had no where to dance.

The people down near the stage had plenty of dancing area and they did but the majority of people are seated.  I don't know what your halls are like but if their any like ours, there is limited dancing area.

If the artists want the crowd to dance they should make sure they have that in mind before booking a venue just for the numbers sake to pack people in for the dollar and then berate them because they are unable to participate...

As for the political statements i would be pissed as well....If you've come her to teach me a lesson f*** off!  I know whats right from wrong, i don't need any artist to shove their political views on me and by the by why go to America and happily collect a big fat pay cheque  from the concert ....takings which will tie you over for the winter, and then slap the poor people in the face with his political bull s**t!

i pose the same question to you, bounce

if political statements where of the same opinion as yours, would you react the same?

as or being pissed off.......an den simfono.....tous grafo se afta pou eho....kai sinehizo na akouo ta tragoudia kai to minima tous

kai na min xehname.....zembekiko is mostly about the words

tora tha mou peis......

soma mou....soma mou ....ftiagmeno apo pilo

gelame merikes fores ....alla.....ta logia lene kati sinithos

of course there is

love, love me do, you know i love you ....(beatles).....some stuff just begs to be danced to (yeah i'm an old fart)

but even then....often later in their career the beatles gave political messages too....but then their songs got more serious too

so what is different today?

nothing really

except some just get pissed off because they cant dance

I just looooove fishing!!! Its all in the bait

i don't follow any artists who have subliminal political messages in their lyrics.

I never liked the beatles..

Ok heres another thing, we know Greece doesn't like America's political views very much.

This artist decides to go to a country he doesn't like! charges an arm and a leg for his concerts.

Benefits from them financially, and then while taking their money he is insulting the good people that have gone to see him. this is were a moutza comes to the good people of America and a lesson learnt, never go and see him again ever and just buy the CD if you must.

Some of these people maybe wanted to go to his concert to reminisce about Greece and to  forget about the bullshit thats going on in the world and have a good night out. Not to have it shoved down their throat

Beatles are but just an example

the point is politics - as in how life is conducted - as opposed to party political lines o any sort - is very much part of rebetika

let us not forget, the resurgence and acceptability of rebetika STARTED in the states, via all the immigrant that left asia minor with the smirni catastrophe

again, i reiterate......rembetika is the equivalent, to a point, of the blues

and many an artist over the years, in the blues world, charged a fortune, relatively for the times, to give "subliminal political messages in their lyrics".....ESPECIALLY IN THE STATES

and besides....dont the states always make a big deal about freedom of speech?

wait...because a citizen of another country criticized the actions of the states some people get a twist in their knickers.......palease!....as if some of the citizens themselves dont do it....

like i said....if you dont like the verbal messages.....ignore them......and listen to the same ones sung to you.....its easier to digest, i suppose

I don't want politics or religion  shoved down my throat by anyone.  When i want to tune into politics its my choice not because some hippie has a guitar and and can string two words together...........No thats not for me

I don't like any songs with political messages in them..

If i want to get my knickers in a knot i can, because as you said  Freedom of speech .

As for Notis or kathe notis out there, that wishes to  entertain me with policitcal messages i too have a right to express my views and boycott his concert.

or simply not go

or even pay to see a hippie and his guitar

but to start a whole "protest march" and encourage others to join in.....is a no-no

of course, being greek.....its a national pastime

freedom of expression, babe.....as kojak would say....the greek one....not the mavro
