Hellenism.Net will have the honour to interview Ms. Diamanda Galas.

We'd like to invite everyone to post any questions you have for her in this topic.

Here's some info I had posted about Diamanda a while back:

Quoted Text
When talking about Diamanda Galas one has to use extreme definitions of her musical and singing style and personality. She's hailed as "phenomenal", "unique", "the Maria Callas of our generation", "the bride of satan".

She sings in English, French, Spanish, Greek and Italian. She sings the blues, jazz, opera and even rebetika. Oh yes, and she's angry and dark. Very dark.

In her personal website she claims that her parents are "Anatolian" Greeks, which seems to have confused many people in thinking that she's of Armenian, or Syrian or even Egyptian background. In a recent interview she sheds some light to this claim saying that she wanted to make a point that her parents are Greeks from Asia Minor (Smyrna) which obviously confused most Americans who have no clue where Anatolia or Asia Minor is.

Her interviews are as interesting as her music, so if you have a chance browse the net for her interviews.

Here's a short biography taken from her personal (and official...) website:

Interesting tidbit: Diamanda worked with the famous bass player John Paul Jones (ex-Led Zeppelin) in her "Sporting Life" album.
